The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) announces the issuance of a proclamation by Mayor Kate Gallego of the City of Phoenix. The proclamation recognizes and designates the week of 15–19 November 2021 as National Nondestructive Testing Appreciation Week.
Nondestructive testing (NDT) is the process of inspecting, testing, or evaluating materials, components, or assemblies for discontinuities or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability of the part or system. In other words, when the inspection or test is completed, the part can still be used.
Recognizing NDT Appreciation Week encourages organizations and companies across all industries, government agencies, universities, and other groups interested in and performing NDT, to communicate to their employees, customers, stakeholders, and the public about their commitment to creating a safer world through NDT.

Since 1941, ASNT has existed to create a safer world by advancing scientific, engineering, and technical knowledge in the field of NDT. “NDT Appreciation Week just so happens to coincide with our annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona,” said Couture. “NDT touches the lives of people globally in so many important ways. From bridges to railways, from airlines to amusement park rides and oil and gas pipelines, NDT is used every day to ensure the safety of people and reliability of assets.”
