We’re excited to be back in person at ASNT 2021: The Annual Conference. For those who cannot join us in Phoenix, we’ll be bringing you into the experience all week here on ASNT Pulse. Three guest bloggers will be sharing their insights throughout the week. We asked them to tell us a little more about themselves:

What is your current role in NDT?

Nowadays I’m certified as ASNT NDT Level III in eight methods, working as inspector and instructor in my own company (jrsainspections.com).

How did you get into NDT?

My first brush with NDT was when I was a kid. My father has more than 30 years as an NDT inspector and sometimes invited me to his work on Saturdays or would bring some UT equipment home… This was really exciting for me.

What are you most excited to experience at ASNT 2021?

Definitely the most important thing for me is to attend in person again, and of course I would like to know what new things will be brought by the different equipment and service suppliers and manufacturers.

Why did you decide to be a guest blogger?

I enjoy sharing updates and my perspective on this industry sector with more people in the NDT community around the world.

What is your current role in NDT?

I am currently a student working my way to my Associate of Applied Science in NDT, so, my role is evolving!

How did you get into NDT?

I heard about NDT through a presentation at school and it piqued my interest. I was considering a major change and NDT seemed to click. Science and engineering melded together into practical applications with a variety of methods? Yes, please!

What are you most excited to experience at ASNT 2021?

The excitement for ASNT 2021 is two-fold. This is my first ASNT conference and I’ve never been to Phoenix before. I’m excited for networking opportunities, presentations, and traveling!

Why did you decide to be a guest blogger?

It sounds like a fun opportunity! I get to report my experience as a student and first-timer to the conference.

  1. Hi! I’m somewhat new to NDT, I am looking to expand my education and knowledge on my own. I’m currently doing QC for a steel pipe fabrication shop. I’m a long time welder and pipe fitter, and I be always worked with an AWS CWI. I’ve tried sand failed once but with my current role at work would benefit me big time. I’m pretty sure they won’t put us up and pay for us to get through any programs so that’s why I’m coming to you. What is the best way to go about getting certified in VT, UT etc.? Thanks for your help
