Atlas Evaluation & Inspection Services (AEIS), a testing, inspection, and certification company based in South Plainfield, New Jersey, has completed inspection and testing for Middlesex Water Company’s new $70 million ozone treatment facility at the utility’s Carl J. Olsen Treatment Plant in Edison, New Jersey. The plant has a treatment capacity of approximately 60 million gallons per day, providing water for half a million residents across Middlesex and Monmouth counties. Construction is slated for mid-2021 completion.

Middlesex Water Company, a provider of water and wastewater and related services in New Jersey and Delaware, was the project owner. Northeast Remsco Construction served as the general contractor, and Jacobs Engineering Group served as the consulting engineer.

“We are proud to have partnered with Northeast Remsco Construction to complete inspection and testing to improve safety and quality outcomes for the new ozone treatment facility,” stated Nagesh Goel, president and co-founder of AEIS. “AEIS specializes in welding and NDT inspections on large infrastructure projects and providing guidance on meeting code.”

AEIS provided welding and NDT inspection services for the facility’s new underground stainless steel piping system and provided a full-time inspector on-site to ensure a high level of quality. AEIS utilized various NDT techniques to verify the soundness of the stainless steel pipe joints.

Olsen Treatment Plant will be the area’s newest, state-of-the-art ozone treatment plant serving the drinking water needs of our local communities. It is essential that any large infrastructure project have an experienced inspection team like AEIS to perform inspections and detect issues before they become problems.”

Inspection, testing, and certification are essential tools to create greater safety of structures in service and successful project outcomes.
