ASNT Houston is a new education and training center that will offer NDT courses, computer-based testing, and a laboratory for in-house practical examinations. In the latest episode of Chat NDT with ASNT, host Debbie Segor, CAE, spoke with Paul Lang, the Executive Director of ASNT Certification Services LLC; Pam Rosenberg, ASNT Director of Education; and Jesse Hernandez, Lead NDT Technician at ASNT Houston about the facility.

The opening of ASNT Houston aligns with ASNT’s Strategic Plan, particularly Pillar #1: Expand and improve our certification portfolio and Pillar #5: Implement a Regional Growth Strategy. As Paul notes in the episode, ASNT’s headquarters has not moved to Houston; instead, this facility provides a new way for ASNT to serve the NDT industry. The location was chosen because it is not only the heart of one of the largest industries served by ASNT—oil and gas—but is also a major hub for other industries, including aerospace and infrastructure.

“It was important to us to get to where the industry’s at in order to be able to provide our certification programs to them, specifically the new ASNT 9712 and our ISQ programs,” said Paul.

In addition to computer-based testing and laboratories for practical examinations, the facility will be home to in-person Certification Prep Courses. As Pam explains in the episode, the facility will begin with offering ASNT NDT Level III courses but eventually expand into ASNT 9712 and ISQ courses.

As Jesse noted, the facility will also be home to outreach events, including NDT demonstrations and community events in partnership with local trade and high schools, as well as the Greater Houston Section of ASNT.

“[ASNT Houston will be] a hub for our NDT community to communicate and trade ideas,” said Jesse.

ASNT Houston is located at 912 Gemini Street, Houston, Texas 77058. Listen to the full episode below to learn more about ASNT Houston and start planning your visit!
